A home that flows between sustainability and design

Located in a medieval square in the province of Burgos, this Passivhaus home designed by Dos Pasos Estudio is a perfect example of how architecture can respect the environment and, at the same time, adapt to the needs of its inhabitants. This project focuses on sustainability, the recovery of historical areas and practical design, all in a home created to be lived in.

A fluid design

The house, located on a narrow plot, has a central void around which all the rooms orbit, creating a large atrium that acts as the heart of the project. This design allows for a fluid interior layout, eliminating unnecessary compartmentalization. In the main room, the bedroom and bathroom are unified in the same space, creating an atmosphere of relaxation and comfort.

The Catania washbasin have been incorporated into the master suite bathroom. These washbasin are not only functional, but also add a touch of sophistication to the space, complementing the understated material palette that includes wood, metal and concrete. The choice of Catania washbasin underlines the design’s commitment to aesthetics and practicality.

Integration with the environment

The house has been adapted to urban planning regulations to preserve the appearance of the urban space, using traditional materials such as tiles and stone, and maintaining a façade composition that respects the history of the place. The windows have been designed to recall the architectural elements of the buildings that once existed on the site.

The central atrium, illuminated by a large skylight, allows natural light to flood all the spaces of the house, creating a warm and welcoming atmosphere. The metal stairs, which seem to float, connect the different levels and facilitate circulation, all in an ascending movement that adds dynamism to the design.

With this project, Dos Pasos Estudio has achieved a perfect symbiosis between contemporary design, sustainability and respect for history, making this house an outstanding example of modern architecture that looks to the future without forgetting its past.
