Anyone visiting the medina (the old center) of Marrakech for the first time may feel overwhelmed at first: the dusty labyrinth of alleys, the chaos of traffic, the mules, the shouts of shopkeepers and the various smells can be a real sensory overload.
However, in the midst of this chaos, is the Dar Al Dall, a raid designed to be an oasis of calm and elegance inspired by the traditional riads of Morocco.
The term “riad” in Arabic means “garden”, and refers to houses or neighborhood structures that have a central patio as their most representative space, where natural elements such as water sources, plants or flowers are often found.
The guest rooms are distributed around this central patio. In this case, five residences are bathed in sunlight, which filters through the palm trees in the patio. A distinctive feature of Riads is their exquisite decoration, and Dar Al Dall is no exception. The courtyard with a fountain, old wooden doors and characteristic arches create a calm atmosphere, enhanced by warm, natural and slightly faded tones.
The design of the bathroom is particularly important in a setting like this, providing a refuge to refresh after exploring the narrow streets of the medina. The tricolor marble floors and the silver walls, the Bathco Brest washbasin also silver add an elegant and luxurious touch. In the spa area, purity dominates with white and silver tones, warm lights and magical shadows.
Oriental ornaments and Moroccan crafts, such as zelige mosaics on the fireplaces and wood carvings on the ceiling, add a touch of authenticity and charm to Dar Al Dall. Much of the furniture is of European origin but with an obvious connection to Marrakech, such as the brass four-poster beds and Italian-designed upholstery motifs with an oriental touch. Additionally, restored antiques from France recall the city’s colonial past, while custom-made furniture and lamps by Moroccan artisans complete the ambience.
Each suite at Hotel Dar Al Dall has its own unique character, with an open fireplace as a centerpiece that radiates warmth and charm throughout the room. This interior design combines the nostalgia of 19th century Moroccan expeditions with the faded elegance of the 1960s inspired by Yves Saint Laurent, creating a harmonious environment that combines tradition and modernity with exquisite taste.
Dar Al Dall is much more than just accommodation; It is a sanctuary of peace and elegance in the heart of the Medina of Marrakech, where travelers can find tranquility and beauty amidst the bustle of the city.
