In the heart of the bustling city of Madrid, amid the asphalt jungle, lies a comprehensive renovation project that carries the essence of the Mediterranean coast and a passion for kitesurfing.
This project is special from the beginning, as the clients were lifelong friends, one being a passionate kitesurfer and his fiancée. For years, the client had lived in the same building on another floor, dreaming of the possibility of acquiring the penthouse. Finally, in 2021, the opportunity arose, and they decided to turn that dream into a reality—a space that would reflect their love for the sea, wind, and coast.
From the outset, the goal was clear: to transform the penthouse into a home that evokes the feeling of a Mediterranean residence. The desire was for anyone who entered to feel tempted to step onto the terrace and gaze at the sea, despite being in the center of the capital.
To achieve this, a visually permeable design was created, connecting the main living spaces with the terrace. The result was a unique combination of the living room, dining area, kitchen, and bedroom—all connected yet differentiated by uses and volumes.
The use of natural materials and a neutral color palette in earth tones was essential. Lime mortar on the walls added texture and warmth, reminiscent of coastal homes in the Mediterranean.
In the bathroom, the choice was the Madagascar stone sink, fitting perfectly into its surroundings with its material and color. Black details, present in metallic elements like the faucets, bring touches of contemporary design to this warm and functional space.
This comprehensive renovation project is a testament to how design can transcend the boundaries of location and bring the essence of a special place to any corner of the world. This penthouse is a true home where the sea and the city exist in perfect harmony.
