Marta Estarriol’s studio faced a great challenge with this renovation project for an 80 m2 apartment in the center of Barcelona. The clients, residents abroad, were looking for a home during their trips to the capital and wanted to feel comfortable and at home. Finding warmth in the space is one of Marta’s specialties, so the first thing she did was eliminate the corridors to create warm and functional spaces. The result was two double bedrooms, an office/guest room and two bathrooms.
The choice of materials was important to achieve the desired result. Natural oak wood was used as the main element in the project, including the solid Hungarian point parquet and the dark-stained oak kitchen cladding. In addition, the walls were paneled with lacquered DM and the doors were integrated to create an elegant and neutral environment that contrasts with wine-colored elements in chairs and textiles.
The small bathroom was a big challenge due to lack of space, but it was cleverly solved by integrating the sink into the room and separating it with a large sliding door.
The desired style was achieved: a warm, functional and exclusive apartment. The bathroom is monochromatic and neutral with the natural porcelain Carnac sink and black faucet, adding an elegant and sophisticated touch to the space.
In summary, this reform demonstrates the ability of the Marta Estarriol team to transform an old and compartmentalized space into a cozy and functional home, perfect for clients who want to feel at home during their trips to the capital.
