Bathco South Africa

A new country

DSC_4968The Bathco brand is establishing itself in the African country thanks to an agreement signed with Morso Fireplaces, which now becomes the official distributor of the firm specialised in the bathroom sector.
Morso Fireplaces had already established a close relationship with Cantabria, as it has been distributing the products of Hergom S.A. for years, and therefore this agreement reaffirms the interest of the South African company in the work being done in this region.

The opening was celebrated with a series of events that took place at the company’s facilities in Fourways (Johannesburg). Managing directors Andrew Balding and Bruce Gould and sales director Miguel Tavares were the hosts.

Also in attendance were Bathco CEO José López and the firm’s business manager, Eduardo López, as well as members of the Economic and Trade Office of the Spanish embassy in South Africa, Ferrán Casadevall, market analyst Rafael Martín, and the intern for internationalisation of ICEX España Exportación e Inversiones, Marta Abad.

This consolidates the Cantabrian firm’s objective of increasing its international presence as part of the strategy it has been following since its beginnings. Bathco is already present in nearly 90 countries on five continents, and with the South African opening it gains another market in which to offer its products. In this way, it is bolstering its international and export-oriented nature by offering products adapted to the new markets.

The South African product display included porcelain washbasins from the general catalogue, as well as stainless steel and aluminium washbasins and a wide range of toilets.

DSC_4720The most unique collections of the Cantabrian firm were also present through pieces from the Natural Series collection. Solid Surface includes washbasins and the Pretoria bathtub in Dadoquartz. As regards the pieces in stone, the Morso Fireplaces managers have indicated that these models are “a real inspiration. The colouring and characteristics of each block of stone is different in each one, adding to its beauty and drawing on the appeal of the natural stone”.

The gleam of the Gold & Silver collection also drew the attention of the South Africans, as did that of the Swarovski line, which they describe as “the perfect pairing of product and craftsmanship. Absolutely stunning”.

That attraction to hand-decorated pieces and the prestige of “Made in Spain” also led them to select the Vintage & More collection to be displayed in the African country with a selection of washbasins decorated with vintage patterns.

CERSAIE 2018

IMG_9491Bathco will present its new products at Cersaie from 24 to 28 September. The 36th edition of this international trade show will display the new products of the Cantabrian firm in Hall 21, Stand B21, where the pieces made by hand in the firm’s Atelier will be showcased: washbasins with varnishes treated at high temperatures and pigments that create new finishes that simulate terrazo or craquelé. Pieces from the new Natural Series catalogue will also be there, as well as new models that will be unveiled exclusively at the Italian show.

Bathco is taking part in this trade show thanks to the collaboration of the Federación de Asociaciones de Equipamiento para Baño (FEBAN), which organises the group participation of Spanish bathroom furnishing companies at Cersaie. The Cantabrian firm is part of this initiative that is included in the foreign promotion plan of the bathroom sector for 2018 and which enjoys the support of the ICEX-España Exportación e Inversiones partnership.
