DARIA is Nacho del Corral’s new restaurant in Santander that Bathco Atelier has contributed to. The work consists of three mural works, two ceramic pieces and two decorated washbasins.
One of the contributions is located in the area leading to the restrooms and was created by Cecilio Espejo in white, black and a greenish-blue hue, or veridian, to match the tiles in the bathroom itself. The other two contributions are in the upper dining room. Sardines on the main wall, and artichokes, tomatoes and onions in another spot. Ceramic pieces were placed next to the wall with the sardines: a pair of plates treated with ceramic decals that continue the aesthetic of the restroom entrance area.
In the women’s restroom, there is a New Toulouse washbasin in raw porcelain with a rose-coloured microcement finish; in the men’s, a Lys washbasin in grey raw microcement was installed. They are the creations of Emeric Minaya and María Centeno, who also applied the restaurant’s logo using ceramic decals and decorated the second piece with phrases referring to the pleasures of gastronomy.
The result of this whole process are two pieces that manage to transmit, with visual and textural realism, the characteristics of microcement, a material that is a great trend in interior design.
