Society is increasing clamouring for actions aimed squarely at serving the public interest. This is an indication of social maturity, a rational and emotional imperative that the individual considers and which drives personal development.
Large companies and organisations are aware of this demand and dedicate a good part of their budget and efforts to returning to society some of the profit generated by their business activities. In this light, Bathco created the Fundación Social y Deportiva Bathco (Bathco Social and Sport Foundation, FUSODEBA). An entity born of the idea of collective social responsibility, where the companies and other organisations understand that joint effort is essential for achieving real social goals.
The foundation was launched a few months ago with the support of companies and organisations from very diverse sectors. All of them pursue a marked social strategy. They include the following: Inmobiliaria San Fernando, Ford Autovecant Grupo Parte, Zitelia, Jardinería Diego, Caixabank, Bankia, La Toba, Lostal, Universidad Europea del Atlántico, El Diario Montañés, Acicatech, Lacabe Estación de Servicio Shell and Cantabria Verde.
This foundation, through its sports area, drives the development of athletic projects focused on supporting sport among youth. Whilst the social area works to improve the quality of life of the most disadvantaged groups. All of this information is now available on the official website: www.fusodeba.com.
The sports area is managed through the Bathco Sport Team. This is a big sports family that currently brings together more than 300 athletes in five disciplines (rugby, padel, track and field, triathlon and cycling). It includes all ages, from eight to the masters categories. It is worth highlighting that in the 2017/2018 season, they competed in 61 regional events, 52 national events, six Spanish championships and two international competitions.
The social area has launched a series of projects. Especially noteworthy are the workshops on decorating ceramics aimed at boys and girls at the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla and the collaboration with different associations to raise funds to support their causes (Buscando Sonrisas, Asociación Contra el Cáncer, etc.).
Projects for the coming season
One of the most important initiatives is the involvement of Bathco, through its foundation, in the athletic project of the century-old Gimnástica de Torrelavega for the 2018/2019 season aimed at keeping the team in the second B division. This represents a new challenge for FUSODEBA of integrating an additional athletic discipline in the Bathco Sport Team.
In June 2018, Bathco opened a new office in South Africa from which to distribute its products more effectively on that continent. Bathco’s arrival in this country, known for its love of rugby and for having one of the best pools of young players in the world, carries with it the seed of another great project: Bathco Rugby Club South Africa.
