Art constitutes an essential element in human development and evolution. Specifically, it brings multiple benefits to childhood, as it has a socio-educational, creative and motivating function.
Under this premise, Bathco, through FUSODEBA, is carrying out a programme of painting and ceramics workshops presented by the artists of the Bathco Atelier at both schools and hospitals. In the case of hospitals, this type of activity reduces the anxiety and stress of the hospitalised child and/or patient and family members by facilitating emotional expression and promoting positive mood changes.
WORKSHOPS IN THE HOSPITAL ENVIRONMENT
The artists who work on ceramics every day in the Bathco studio, visit the paediatrics department at Valdecilla to lead a very creative workshop. The ceramics, the pigments, the knowledge of the artists and the help of the volunteers from Buscando Sonrisas are the tools that allow the boys and girls between 3 and 16 years of age to give free rein to their creativity.
These workshops are part of an agreement between Bathco and Buscando Sonrisas, with the support of the hospital’s management, for the purpose of inspiring and enriching the children that pass through the hospital.
The planned programme will be completed with the construction of a mural that will include all the material created by the boys and girls in the workshops. This mural will serve to display the name of the children’s play area in the hospital and thus create a colourful space for the enjoyment of the kids.
This mural was presented on Saturday, 12 May 2018, on the occasion of the International Day of the Hospitalised Child, in the play area of the Hospital Universitario Marqués de Valdecilla. Buscando Sonrisas organised a series of activities with the participation of the children at the hospital, their families, numerous volunteers and different invited associations, such as the Nueve Valles de Reocín choir and La Orden de Revan.
The event was opened with the unveiling of the mural, which has graced the play area since then as the final product of a project that Bathco, in collaboration with Buscando Sonrisas, has been working on at the hospital.
