For yet another year, ArteSantander consolidates its position as the leading art fair in northern Spain. A total of 42 galleries exhibited works by a variety of Spanish and international artists under the concept of “Solo Projects”. Bathco wanted to be at this leading international fair through Bathco Atelier, its most ambitious project to date. On this occasion, the company was called on to decorate and design the VIP zone of the exhibition, which served as a meeting point for gallery owners, artists and visitors. Playing the leading role in this space designed by Bathco were two large ceramic murals developed by artists Emeric Minaya, and María Centeno.
This year, coinciding with the 25th anniversary of ArteSantander, Bathco wanted to take on a very active role with the goal of strengthening its commitment to art and culture. To this end, it held the First Bathco Contemporary Art Awards to honour the best artistic project shown at ArteSantander.
Judas Arrieta was the winner of this award for his work, which was presented by the Espacio Alexandra gallery. In addition,
this first encounter between the bathroom product manufacturer and the artist led to proposals for other projects in the medium term to continue bringing art into the world of bathrooms. With this award, Bathco seeks to continue supporting contemporary artists who cross borders thanks to the quality of their work. In addition, these types of actions, besides strengthening its commitment to art, for Bathco mean giving continuity to the strategy marked by the Bathco Atelier project, which has represented a qualitative leap by bringing art to everyday life by applying it to a bathroom product. The jury for the Bathco Contemporary Art Award consisted of a committee of experts made up of Ana del Barrio and Marta Gómez, the editors of the specialised magazine Masdearte.com; Fernando Centenera, president of the Centenera Foundation and a collector; and José López, Bathco’s managing director.
