A 15th-century home with modern touches

Built in 1458, this historic home in the heart of a town has been revitalized by its current owner and her family. With the help of the interior designer Maria Just, a renovation has been carried out that respects the original architecture, using natural materials such as wood, stone and natural fibers.

The house, with several Gothic arches and its original structure, has kept its historical elements intact. The arches and the original staircase, as well as the hand-clay tiles, have been restored. The ground floor houses the hall, kitchen, dining room and living room, with a wood-burning fireplace and a skylight that illuminates the house.

The original sky blue color is a common thread in the project. The bathrooms are covered with blue glazed tiles, and in the attic the original blue pigment has been preserved in one room. In the bathrooms, the New Lys washbasin by Bathco in natural porcelain has been integrated, providing a touch of modernity without losing the rustic charm.

Maria Just has managed to combine the rustic style of the 15th century with the modern comfort of the 21st century. The use of wood, white and natural elements, such as cattail and clay, contrasts perfectly with the stone walls and gothic arches, achieving a balance between modernity and craftsmanship.
